Presidential hopeful Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) submitted an opinion column to the New York Times on Thursday explaining in detail his position on evolution.
In his Op-Ed piece, the Catholic conservative specified how science and faith must be looked at together when discussing intricate issues such as evolution. He added that evolution, for the most part, has much validity to it while at the same time lacks substance in many instances.
“The truths of science and faith are complementary,” explained Brownback. “[T]hey deal with very different questions, but they do not contradict each other because the spiritual order and the material order were created by the same God.”

Senator Has New Plan To Partition Iraq
Apr 26, 2007
(US News) Sen. Sam Brownback, a 2008 GOP presidential candidate, says that he hopes to move a bipartisan bill calling for the partitioning of Iraq into three states before the Democratic supplemental funding bill for the war goes to the president for his promised veto.
"I'd like to do it before we go to veto," he said in a roundtable interview with reporters. His plan: teaming with Sen. Joe Biden, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to push forward Biden's plan to move toward a political division of the war-torn nation. However, Brownback said that while he's been talking with Biden about the plan, the Delaware senator has not committed to it.

Brownback says family ’fundamental blocking and tackling’
Senator and U.S. presidential candidate Sam Brownback is touting a new piece of legislation he believes will help strengthen America’s families. He and Nebraska Representative Lee Terry have introduced the Parents’ Tax Relief Act, a bill that would extend the Dependent Care Tax Credit to stay-at-home parents of children age six and under, make the Child Tax Credit permanent, and eliminate the marriage penalty tax.
Brownback feels the newly proposed measure is an important step towards rebuilding family structure. "To me, the family is fundamental blocking and tackling," the lawmaker explains. "You’ve got to get this right. Payton Manning can’t throw many passes if he doesn’t have a line in front of him

Brownback Leads The Field In Missed Votes
Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., has been playing an awful lot of hooky these days. Last month, he missed more than half of his Senate roll call votes, according to AbsentCongress.org, a Web site launched Thursday that tracks senatorial absenteeism.
Only Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., who remains hospitalized after a life-threatening brain hemorrhage, has missed more. Johnson, who staffers say is making steady progress in his recovery, hasn't made it to any votes yet.
Brownback showed up 48 percent of the time. As a presidential hopeful, he probably has his hands full. Yet rival senators who are also moonlighting as '08 contenders have higher attendance records – though the campaign season remains young.

Too much time campaigning and not enough doing his job? Except Senator Brownback has not been doing that much campaigning! Could it be that the job of Senator is too demanding for Senator Brownback, too much of a drain on his time?
