Tom Tancredo Won't Run For Congress Again

(AP) DENVER Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo announced Monday he won't seek a sixth term in Congress from Colorado next year, saying he has succeeded in making illegal immigration a national issue.

But Tancredo said he will continue his long-shot bid for the White House and hinted that if that fails, he would consider running for the Senate.

The lawmaker said he doesn't need to stay in the House to push illegal immigration because "the issue now has a life of its own and it doesn't need one particular person to champion it."

I have no doubt that global warming exists. I just question the cause and what we can do to ameliorate it. But I wonder why the Sierra Club isn't going crazy about the environmental aspects of massive immigration into the U.S. The fact is, Americans consume more energy than anyone else, so if a person moves here from another country, they automatically become bigger polluters.

That kind of hypothetical choice would never happen, of course, but I guess I would take Osama immediately, and then my next step would be to deport all the illegal aliens.

(AP) MANCHESTER, N.H. Presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo said Wednesday he isn't deterred by the fundraising race, polls that show him trailing or critics saying he's an also-ran.

The Colorado representative said he'll emerge from the crowded Republican field a winner because he has a conservative message that's lacking in the race.

"I have a built-in constituency of average Americans who are worried the impact of illegal immigration will have on their jobs, their schools, their hospitals, their prisons, their national security and their culture. There are millions of them."

Rep. Tancredo pushes border security

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo on Saturday urged U.S. elected officials to do a better job securing the country's borders.

"Most of my colleagues do not want to deal with this," said Tancredo, a potential Republican presidential candidate. "The borders are becoming meaningless, and that is their intent."

Tancredo, who attracted a small crowd Saturday afternoon at a gun show, said he opposes granting amnesty to immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally. He also criticized President Bush's immigration policies.

In order to find articles, columns and other materials for this blog every Sunday morning I go to Google type in a candidates name and news and read the links that come up. This morning, Sunday Feb 25th 2007, the only things that came up for Senator Tancredo's name were attack pieces written by left wing Media outlets and Bloggers. That can only lead to a couple of conclusions --- 1) Either Senator Tancredo spent the entire week locked in a dark room and made absolutely no news 2) The Media does not want to report on anything that Senator Tancredo does that might make him look good or 3) Senator Tancredo is Evil Incarnate. Personally I am leaning towards option Two.

Tancredo wants to abolish Roe vs. Wade

Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo wants voters to know that he’s more than just a champion for immigration reform and that, in his 30-year political career, he has been a strong supporter of unborn children’s right to life.

In fact, the Colorado Congressman has received an "A" grade from the National Right to Life Committee and says that, as president, he would work to bring about an end to Roe v. Wade, which he describes as "lousy law" that should be challenged. "We should think of a way to bring it again to the Supreme Court," the presidential candidate says, "because I think we have a chance of overturning it."

Tancredo blasts bank policy

Congressman Tom Tancredo wondered if Bank of America’s decision to offer credit cards to customers without Social Security numbers creates a loophole for would-be terrorists seeking to finance their efforts.

Tancredo, R-Littleton, sent a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday, asking them to investigate the issue.

“After September 11th, we were told that money was the lifeblood of terrorists, and that we should do everything possible to block their access to financial resources,” Tancredo said. “Today we are hearing a far different message: Bank of America, it’s everywhere terrorists want to be.”

As a result of that, some folks are taking a closer look at exactly who pays Tancredo's tab, and the result isn't pretty. The American Spectator has a piece today which reads, in part:

In fact, it's not clear Tancredo is in line with the mainstream, social conservative wing of the GOP he seeks to align himself with. According to campaign finance reports, one of Tancredo's biggest financial backers has been the family of Dr. John Tanton, the founder of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). Wall Street Journal editorial-page features writer Jason Riley wrote a devastating piece about the organization back in 2004, in which the group's pro-abortion and pro-eugenics roots were revealed.
