Huckabee warns of obesity epidemic
BILOXI, Miss. - Republican presidential candidate and self-described "recovering foodaholic" Mike Huckabee told Southern governors Saturday that an obesity epidemic could cause serious problems for the American economy, and even for national security.
"Today we hear a lot about the war on terror, how we need to fight it," said Huckabee, who lost 110 pounds several years ago when he was governor of Arkansas. "Let me ask this question: Who's going to fight it in the future if we're a generation so sick that we don't have the capacity to show up for work?"

He’s running a much more difficult race now, as a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination.
At Rhode Island College yesterday, Huckabee addressed the closing ceremonies of Shape Up RI, the wellness competition started by Brown University medical student Rajiv Kumar.
Huckabee spoke about Southern fried food and the lifestyle change he underwent to lose weight and become an athlete.
In a private 10-minute interview before the event, Huckabee discussed politics, war and his prospects for the White House.

Huckabee says GOP not above character issues
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Former President Bill Clinton could be owed an apology by some Republicans if they don't take character issues in candidates' personal lives seriously in the upcoming presidential election, former Gov. Mike Huckabee says.
Without naming names, the GOP presidential hopeful complained that some in his party —particularly Christian evangelicals — "talk as if, in this election cycle, Republican candidates aren't going to be held to a standard of personal accountability and responsibility for their personal lives."

Huckabee says he will not challenge Pryor
WASHINGTON - Despite modest fundraising that continues to trail well behind Republican frontrunners, Mike Huckabee said Friday he remains focused on his 2008 presidential bid and will not challenge Sen. Mark Pryor next year.
"The rumors have been out there and I need to put them to bed. I don't see it happening," Huckabee said of the possibility he would drop out of his run for president to take on Pryor, a first-term Democrat.
"There are no ifs on this one. I have a race I'm in, and I'm committed to it."

Owner's Comments: Considering the previous article posted on Govenor Huckabee and the Food Network perhaps he should consider the Senate instead of the Presidency.

Getting A Clear Picture Of Presidential Candidate Huckabee
Mike Huckabee hats and stickers as well as campaign signs are popping up in South Carolina. That’s where the former governor is now focusing his campaign efforts.
"Well, I’m going to be focused on what's going to happen out there in the future rather than what has happened,” says Huckabee. “There's no doubt there have been some breakdowns in the way government has functioned.

The 'other' man from Hope
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee might provide the best combination of social and fiscal conservatism in the presidential race this year.
Conservatives surveying the front-runners in this year's race for the GOP presidential nomination are a little depressed.
Neither of the most bandied-about names, John McCain and Mitt Romney, constitute the total package of fiscal and social conservatism.
McCain has opposed a federal amendment banning same-sex marriage, while Romney campaigned for gay rights and abortion rights in his Senate and gubernatorial bids.
Another presidential hopeful, Rudi Giuliani, also supports both abortion and gay rights.
As crazy as it makes liberals, knowing a candidate believes in the sanctity of God, the nuclear family and human life goes a long way with conservative voters.
