WASHINGTON - It is the kind of story you could write a book about: A 35-year-old single mother of three is fired from her state job after refusing to go along with a scheme to pardon criminals who bribe aides to the governor. The plot cries out for a good lawyer to save the day.
All the better if he has charm and a commanding presence. Enter Fred Thompson, 6-foot-5 inches of cigar-chomping Southern gentleman. He saves the day; the woman is vindicated.
And best of all, for a man with a presidential campaign in his future, it is a true story, and someone did write a book about it.
Many a life follows a serendipitous path. One person's influence sends someone's career in a new direction.

Comment from the Owner: Is it just me or does this article make it sound like Fred Thompson only did the right thing because he knew 20 years later he would be running for President? Can you say Media Bias?

Clinton walks tightrope as a trailblazing insider
NEW YORK -- Call it the Clinton contradiction.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is a political trailblazer, pursuing the precedent-setting achievement of becoming the first female candidate to win the presidency. How, then, did she also become the candidate of the Democratic Party establishment -- a title historically attached to less-than-scintillating contenders such as John Kerry, Al Gore and Walter Mondale?

Clinton vows to end war if elected
By Charlotte Eby
Of The Globe Gazette Des Moines Bureau
DES MOINES — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton pledged during a trip to Iowa today that if President Bush does not end the war in Iraq by the end of his term, she will if she is elected president.
She said if Bush still has the U.S. mired in the Iraq war by that time, it would be “one of the most irresponsible positions any American president” has ever taken

Owner Comments: The "Reporter" for this article fails to mention that Ms Clinton voted FOR the war. She also fails to mention that President Bush's positions prior to this war were the exact same ones taken by President Clinton, Senator Clinton, Senator Kerry and Vice President Gore. Enough Hypocracy, IF you want to support Ms Clinton by all means do so but lets quit lying about her positions. Ms Clinton has taken any and every position that she thought would get her good publicity or improve her chance for the Presidency. It would also be extremely nice if occasionally one of these stalwarts of Journalism actually did a bit of research. Come on Ms Eby how about telling the Truth, the whole truth!

Liberals biggest hurdle for Romney?
Conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt thinks Mitt Romney's biggest opposition comes not from evangelical Christians who view Mormonism as a cult, but rather from secular liberals who remain skeptical of anyone who believes in revelation, divine intervention or miracles.
Writers in Slate and The New Republic, for example, called Romney's Mormon beliefs ludicrous and suggested that believing them disqualified him from office. That is bigotry, pure and simple, Hewitt says, and all people of faith should condemn it - or no one is safe.
Please read the rest of this article at: http://www.sltrib.com/ci_5517078?source=rss
Owner Comments: The fact that Mitt Romney is a Morman has absolutely no relevance on his ability to be President. I question the fact that the Mainstream media feels it is neccessary to mention his religion in almost every news story about him. Is it possible that the Mainstream Media that is always demaning toleration for the Islmofacists that are trying to Kill Americans are prejudice against Mormans?

Message to Giuliani and Romney: Just Say No to Drive-By Politics
By Marc H. Morial,
President and CEO, National Urban League
March 12, 2007
Back in November, the National Urban League extended invitations of anyone considering a presidential run to speak at our annual conference this July in St. Louis, Mo. We figured they'd have no legitimate excuse not to come if we started our outreach two years before Election Day. Well, we were wrong.
After two rounds of invitations, we've received two rejections - from former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Giuliani has got some bigger fish to fry, apparently, and is so busy that he's got not just one but two scheduling conflicts that render him unable to grace our stage. I understand the 2008 presidential campaign is already underway - well before elections of the past-but it's not as if we're holding our convention in midst of the primary season.

Owner Comments: Personally I fail to see why any Republican canidate would bother to speak to this group. This group has always endorsed the Democrat, has run adds accusing the Republicans of every time of crime and racist garbage under the sun. Just One of the National Urban Leagues far left slantings:
Bush’s Crimes in Baghdad Have Parallel in U.S., U.K.

Journalism vs Swift Boating
Today (Feb 25th 2007) I spent over an hour searching the internet for new articles to put up on this blog about the Presidential Candidates. I dont do this because I am bored, I dont do this because I particularly love reading dozens and dozens of news articles every Sunday morning. I do this so that I can be better informed on what the Presidential Candidates are saying and doing and so that I can share that information with other folks like you.
One of the things I have noticed is that if you go to Google News and type in the name of a Republican Candidate the majority of the articles that come up (at least for the last three weeks) are attack pieces. Barely disguised opionon pieces by the Mainline Media meant to present the candidate in as bad a light as possible. The ONLY negative piece I could find on a Democrat candidate turned out to be a complaint about how Republicans were "Swiftboating" a Democrat candidate.
So I guess if you write something negative about a Conservative Republican candidate that is considered "Journalism". On the other hand if you write a negative or even a less that positive piece about one of the Democrats Big Three (Hillary, Obama, & Edwards) then you are "Swiftboating".
For the next 21 months I guess we will be treated to this type of "Objective Journalism" from the Mainstream Media. I guess we should look for more CBS Storys based on Forged Documents, More NBC Storys that ignore the facts and More lies, half truths and blantly biased reporting from ABC, CNN and all the rest.
My only suggestion is that you keep reading the blogs, read more than one source for your information. Never forget the article, news report you are reading was written by the extremely biased left wing Democrat loving Media.

What Are the Candidates Saying about Immigration? Tancredo on Immigration Reform
by Amy Taylor
The Colorado Congressman from Littleton announced his intention to run for President in late January even though he has no intention of becoming the President of the United States. You can watch his announcement here. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is running because he is keeping good on an old promise he made to run for president if other candidates didn't make immigration a top priority -- and he is doing just that. "I operate under no illusions of being nominated, but I could influence the direction of the debate." He launched his campaign this year, "Tom Tancredo 2008 for a Secure America," with its number one issue: securing our borders.

Presidential hopefuls reflect pluralism
By PETER STRESCINO
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
Whatever you may think of them, the fact that a woman, African-American and a Mormon are receiving serious consideration for president of the United States tells much about where we are as a nation and what we can become.
The nation’s pluralistic soul has never been so much in evidence. It was just 47 years ago that John F. Kennedy beseeched a crowd to not vote against him because he was Roman Catholic.

Pure undilluted Hatred of Senator Tancredo

IF you want to read yet another attack piece on Senator Tancredo

In order to find articles, columns and other materials for this blog every Sunday morning I go to Google type in a candidates name and news and read the links that come up. This morning, Sunday Feb 25th 2007, the only things that came up for Senator Tancredo's name were attack pieces written by left wing Media outlets and Bloggers. That can only lead to a couple of conclusions --- 1) Either Senator Tancredo spent the entire week locked in a dark room and made absolutely no news 2) The Media does not want to report on anything that Senator Tancredo does that might make him look good or 3) Senator Tancredo is Evil Incarnate. Personally I am leaning towards option Two.

Polygamy rooted out in Romney's family tree
By Jennifer Dobner Associated Press
and Glen Johnson
SALT LAKE CITY -- While Mitt Romney condemns polygamy and its prior practice by his Mormon church, the Republican presidential candidate's great-grandfather had five wives and at least one of his great-great grandfathers had 12.
Polygamy was not just a historical footnote, but a prominent element in the family tree of the former Massachusetts governor now seeking to become the first Mormon president.
Please read the rest of this article at: http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/02252007/worldnation-25sun-romney.html
I wondered when the first attack piece about Govenor Romney's religion would appear. Apparently it didnt take long for someone to figure out that if Govenor Romney's roots are Mormans then the odds were good that at least one of his ancestors had more than a single wife. This "Fact" has absolutely nothing to do with Govenor Romney or his ability to be a good President ---- all it does is present the Govenor in a bad light. I am curious what we would find if someone studyied the ancestors of all the "Major" Democrat candidates?

Boosting Biden, NBC Misrepresents 2002 Iraq War Resolution
If NBC wants to support the effort of Joe Biden and Carl Levin to adopt a new resolution undercutting the 2002 version that authorized President Bush to go to war against Iraq, let it put Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann out there to make the case. But please don't misrepresent to the public what that 2002 resolution [full text here] said.
