Fundraising Race Heats As Deadline Looms

WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton raises nearly $3 million in a single event and husband Bill pleads for more. John McCain publicly frets about falling financially behind.

With the first quarter of fundraising ending Saturday, the presidential campaigns are working overtime to make sure they don't get tagged as losers in the money race.

"Money in the off year has never been more important than in this presidential cycle," said Michael Toner, a former Federal Election Commission chairman.

Owner Comments: Oh Poor Poor RINO McCain, perhaps he should switch to the Democrat party since he agrees with them more often than he does the conservative majority in the Republican Party. If you are a member of the National Republican Party Leadership let this be a warning the Conservative base will NEVER support John McCain!

Republican presidential hopeful Hunter not to seek re-election to House of Representatives

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican long-shot presidential candidate Duncan Hunter does not plan to seek re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, but his son probably will run for the seat, Hunter's presidential campaign spokesman said Wednesday.

Hunter's son is Duncan D. Hunter, who as a U.S. Marine served two tours of duty in Iraq. He has not yet made a formal announcement, but that could come soon, said spokesman Roy Tyler. Meanwhile, the son is helping his father in appearances during his presidential campaign, Tyler said.

"He makes a pretty good stand-in" for his father, Tyler said.

Clinton vows to end war if elected

By Charlotte Eby
Of The Globe Gazette Des Moines Bureau

DES MOINES — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton pledged during a trip to Iowa today that if President Bush does not end the war in Iraq by the end of his term, she will if she is elected president.

She said if Bush still has the U.S. mired in the Iraq war by that time, it would be “one of the most irresponsible positions any American president” has ever taken

Owner Comments: The "Reporter" for this article fails to mention that Ms Clinton voted FOR the war. She also fails to mention that President Bush's positions prior to this war were the exact same ones taken by President Clinton, Senator Clinton, Senator Kerry and Vice President Gore. Enough Hypocracy, IF you want to support Ms Clinton by all means do so but lets quit lying about her positions. Ms Clinton has taken any and every position that she thought would get her good publicity or improve her chance for the Presidency. It would also be extremely nice if occasionally one of these stalwarts of Journalism actually did a bit of research. Come on Ms Eby how about telling the Truth, the whole truth!

Liberals biggest hurdle for Romney?

Conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt thinks Mitt Romney's biggest opposition comes not from evangelical Christians who view Mormonism as a cult, but rather from secular liberals who remain skeptical of anyone who believes in revelation, divine intervention or miracles.

Writers in Slate and The New Republic, for example, called Romney's Mormon beliefs ludicrous and suggested that believing them disqualified him from office. That is bigotry, pure and simple, Hewitt says, and all people of faith should condemn it - or no one is safe.

Owner Comments: The fact that Mitt Romney is a Morman has absolutely no relevance on his ability to be President. I question the fact that the Mainstream media feels it is neccessary to mention his religion in almost every news story about him. Is it possible that the Mainstream Media that is always demaning toleration for the Islmofacists that are trying to Kill Americans are prejudice against Mormans?

Rudy Giuliani Makes Campaign Stop In Oakland

CBS 5 / AP) OAKLAND

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, in a Bay Area campaign appearance Friday, said he's not a perfect person and asked voters to judge his private life in the context of his performance as mayor of New York.

"I was able to handle the worst attack in the history of our country, while all these things the press is caring about were going on," Giuliani said, when asked how conservative voters might judge his personal conduct. "So I think when people look at it fairly, they will see it has nothing to do with job performance."
