CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo on Saturday urged U.S. elected officials to do a better job securing the country's borders.
"Most of my colleagues do not want to deal with this," said Tancredo, a potential Republican presidential candidate. "The borders are becoming meaningless, and that is their intent."
Tancredo, who attracted a small crowd Saturday afternoon at a gun show, said he opposes granting amnesty to immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally. He also criticized President Bush's immigration policies.
